I've seen the dev update about #TailsOfIron2 where they say that, based on feedback received they've removed the weapon degradation mechanic and instead now the whetstone will be used for buffing the weapons, and I couldn't be happier about it.

When I played the demo I struggled a lot with that part and I didn't find it fun to manage at all, so I'm extremely glad they removed it. I look forward to playing the game when it releases!!
