Will McKinleyJust saw PYGMALION (1938) on 35mm at the Paris Theater in NYC. Wendy Hiller and Leslie Howard had roughly the same age difference as Audrey Hepburn and Rex Harrison, but their chemistry is infinitely more genuine.George Bernard Shaw’s Oscar-winning adaptation of his play feels like a screwball comedy. The articulation is superb. Every word can be heard. And the tempi are very well chosen. Not too slow and certainly not too fast. Not sure though if it will defeat my favorite version by La Petite Bande.
