Shantell Powell<p>I wish I could've had this procedure done on my shoulder weeks ago. The difference in energy levels is huge. Pain sapped so much from me. Now it doesn't hurt nearly as much. The pain was constant before, with big spikes any time I moved a little wrong. It woke me up many times during the nighttime. </p><p>My range of motion is somewhat improved. I can tuck my shirt in again. Hoping I'll be able to put my hair up in a bun again without heroic efforts. <a href="https://c.im/tags/FrozenShoulder" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>FrozenShoulder</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/recovery" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>recovery</span></a></p>
Shantell Powell<p>I swear one of the big reasons I have insomnia tonight is that my shoulder no longer agonizes me when I roll over. I'm luxuriating in the reduced pain levels. Too excited by it, I think. And I had a lot more energy one day after treatment than I've had in months. Pain is exhausting. <a href="https://c.im/tags/frozenShoulder" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>frozenShoulder</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/ChronicPain" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ChronicPain</span></a></p>
Shantell Powell<p>That wasn't nearly as bad as I thought. I had a whole wack of needles. A couple of kinds of freezing, a saline injection, and cortisone. It didn't hurt nearly as much as the freezing for when I had my moles removed. Those were awful. </p><p>Now I'm waiting to get my shoulder physically manipulated. The way I picture it is as though my shoulder were wrapped in hard bubble wrap. The physiotherapist is going to pop the bubbles. <br><a href="https://c.im/tags/FrozenShoulder" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>FrozenShoulder</span></a></p>
Shantell Powell<p>It's been a week since I got my COVID booster in the same side as my frozen shoulder. The pain/inflammation in my shoulder is still much improved from before getting the shot. I'm grateful for this weird side effect. <a href="https://c.im/tags/FrozenShoulder" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>FrozenShoulder</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/CovidBoosterSideEffect" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CovidBoosterSideEffect</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/CovidVaccineSideEffect" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CovidVaccineSideEffect</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/PfizerCovidVaccine" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>PfizerCovidVaccine</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/VaccineSideEffect" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>VaccineSideEffect</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/ChronicPain" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ChronicPain</span></a></p>
Shantell Powell<p>I just went to the doctor to get my stitches removed and gave him a good laugh. I told him that I got my COVID booster yesterday and it dramatically reduced the pain of my frozen shoulder. It made him cackle with glee. He told me I need to tell people about this. So there you go. A positive side effect of the COVID booster. <a href="https://c.im/tags/FrozenShoulder" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>FrozenShoulder</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/Covid" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Covid</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/CovidBooster" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CovidBooster</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/VaccineSideEffects" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>VaccineSideEffects</span></a></p>
Shantell Powell<p>I'll be getting a saline injection and cortisone to treat my frozen shoulder. I'm currently in the freezing stage and it sucks. Lots of pain and inflammation in my shoulder/arm making sleep even more difficult. The pain is exhausting. It's very hard to put my hair in a ponytail or put on a shirt or sports bra. I hope the treatment helps. I'll be getting it done a few days before I go do my residency in Banff.</p><p>I went to the gym this morning. It sucked, but I felt better at the end than I did when I first got there. Recovered a bit of mobility, too. <a href="https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC5706054/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/</span><span class="invisible">PMC5706054/</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/FrozenShoulder" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>FrozenShoulder</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/InvisibleDisability" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>InvisibleDisability</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/ChronicPain" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ChronicPain</span></a></p>
Shantell Powell<p>At the beginning of the month, I was benching 60 lbs. I went pretty light because I wasn't sure what my gimpy shoulder could handle. Ends up that with the Swiss bar, my shoulder is fine. Managed three reps at 85 lbs today, and one rep at 90 lbs. </p><p>Next up, I'll be focusing on deadlifts. Here's hoping my shoulder is ok with them. <br><a href="https://c.im/tags/FitAfter50" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>FitAfter50</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/FrozenShoulder" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>FrozenShoulder</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/BenchPress" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>BenchPress</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/WeightLifting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>WeightLifting</span></a></p>
Shantell Powell<p>That physiotherapy I had yesterday helped. Earlier this week, I couldn't go into child's pose, and today I could. I also made my bed without it hurting, and I was able to do an intense workout with lots of rowing and pressing motions. </p><p>I'm supposed to keep stretching my shoulder several times a day, taking it to the pain point and keeping it there (but not pushing further). It sucks a lot, but apparently it will help me retain more mobility than if I don't do this. <br><a href="https://c.im/tags/FrozenShoulder" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>FrozenShoulder</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/FitAfter50" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>FitAfter50</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/shoulder" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>shoulder</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/InvisibleDisability" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>InvisibleDisability</span></a></p>
Shantell Powell<p>Ah, I see. I've reached the point of frozen shoulder where I can't put on deodorant. Guess I'll just stink for a year and a half. <a href="https://c.im/tags/FrozenShoulder" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>FrozenShoulder</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/InvisibleDisability" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>InvisibleDisability</span></a></p>
ceartas<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://c.im/@Shanmonster" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>Shanmonster</span></a></span> </p><p>My wife had a procedure for her <a href="https://mastodon.world/tags/FrozenShoulder" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>FrozenShoulder</span></a> a couple of years ago. It was called a “surgery”, I guess because it involved anesthesia, but there was no incision. It was performed by an orthopedic surgeon, who practices “sports medicine”, and it was successful. It sounds as if you’re on the right path. I wish you freedom from pain.</p>
Shantell Powell<p>Grateful one of my coaches is conversant with frozen shoulder and is helping me find exercises which work for me and will help preserve as much mobility as possible. It really helps that my shoulder baseline is far more mobile than average. It also helps that I am already fit and strong. Really hoping I'll be able to make a full recovery when this condition has finished its course. </p><p>I got a phone call from my sports doctor while I was at the gym. He doesn't do cortisone injections, but is passing on the information for a doctor who does to my family doctor. I sure hope the referral goes quickly, because I hurt myself badly in my sleep again by stretching. I swear, it's like being poleaxed. It's agonizing for a couple of minutes, and then I can't get back to sleep for a while out of terror that I'll hurt myself again in my sleep. Do not recommend. <a href="https://c.im/tags/FrozenShoulder" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>FrozenShoulder</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/InvisibleDisability" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>InvisibleDisability</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/ChronicPain" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ChronicPain</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/mobility" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>mobility</span></a></p>
Shantell Powell<p>I hurt myself really badly by simply lifting a blanket off my leg yesterday. I couldn't help but yelp loudly and clutch my arm. Someone may as well have taken an axe to it for all the pain I suddenly felt. Thankfully, it died back down to normal after about two minutes. Thankfully, I'm not causing myself permanent damage when I have these moments. Frozen shoulder sucks. Do not recommend. <a href="https://c.im/tags/FrozenShoulder" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>FrozenShoulder</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/Pain" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Pain</span></a></p>
Shantell Powell<p>Well, figured out what's going on with my neck/shoulder/arm. I've been diagnosed as being in the early stages of frozen shoulder. Apparently, menopausal folks are more prone to it for unknown reasons. Yay? </p><p>So I have about a year and a half until this issue goes away, and it will get worse before it gets better. The good news is that when that awful pain happens, I'm not causing myself damage. Apparently, a cortisone shot early on will help prevent some of that pain. So will continuing to exercise regularly, although I will have to avoid exercises which bring on the pain (which is sudden and intense). Massages will also help, because the surrounding muscles will lock up from that pain. </p><p>Looks like I have a rocky road ahead of me. <br><a href="https://c.im/tags/FrozenShoulder" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>FrozenShoulder</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/ChronicPain" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ChronicPain</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/InvisibleDisabilities" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>InvisibleDisabilities</span></a> <a href="https://c.im/tags/menopause" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>menopause</span></a></p>
Jackie ❤️☮️🇵🇸🇪🇺🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧<p>A couple of days ago, I thought I'd try and cut down on my naproxen for my <a href="https://ohai.social/tags/FrozenShoulder" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>FrozenShoulder</span></a> and take ibuprofen instead.<br>Today, I also decided to clean the kitchen and clear a couple of drawers out.<br>Cunty, fuckerty, fuck, fuck, OUCH, bastard, bollocks. </p><p>That's that plan fucking knackered.</p>

Lillias<p><span class="h-card"><a href="https://mastodon.ie/@urbanfoxe" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>urbanfoxe</span></a></span> the dr gave me pain medication (ibuprofen) and a muscle relaxant but they don’t really do too much. Other than that the advice is to put cold packs on. You know the medical field doesn’t think we actually need pain relief because it can’t possibly hurt that badly. (Can you tell I’m slightly bitter, lol)</p><p>PT does help. Just went in on Friday for the initial visit and she gave me some exercises to do.
