I like to reflect on my passion for Star Trek. Today is the funeral burial for my grandfather. The reason Star Trek has been so all-encompassing is because of my grandfather. At a young age I saw him watching #tng and I wanted to do the same. When I was ten, I was finally old enough to watch a series from beginning to end on first run broadcast. That was #ent. I remember how excited he was when “Broken Bow” aired. From then on, each Wednesday he’d let me stay up late to watch every episode with him.
At lot of my Trek viewing memory from childhood is largely “All Good Things…” (my favorite), and #fc. However #ent holds the fondest memories I associate with my grandfather. While between the two of us I’m the Trekkie, it was something positive I bonded over with him. When I watch episodes like “Shuttlepod One”, “The Andorian Incident”, “Horizon”, “Similitude” or “Cold Station 12”, I am filled with joy. It makes me feel like a child all over. Most of all, I think of my grandfather.
