They are made by a Chinese company (Anker), and the app contains some analytics trackers. The build quality is flawless, they operate locally without a subscription, and the software gets the job done. There was a scare last year about push notification previews being stored in an unsecured cloud, but push notifications always go through AAPL or GOOG clouds.
