Those of us who read Business Insider co-founder Henry Blodget's extraordinary blog post earlier this week were just champing at the bit to read the pithy takedown, and here it is, from Defector's Albert Burneko.

For those who aren't familiar, Blodget wrote about how he asked Chat GPT to generate an AI newsroom team of four "people," appointed one — a persona called Tess Ellery — as president and managing editor, and then sexually harassed her. "Someone please check on this doofus," writes Burneko. "'Sexually harassing one's imaginary workplace subordinate, apologizing for it, and writing about it for your public-facing blog' is the Point Nemo on the map of nourishing human connections. Voyager 2 beeping into the void of interstellar space is the bride at a Greek wedding compared to this man." At the second link, find Blodget's original post, in all its dubious glory.

flip.it · Henry Blodget Invents, Hires, Sexually Harasses, Blogs About Nonexistent AI Subordinate | DefectorHave you ever been lonely? I mean really lonely. Think of the loneliest you ever were. Transpose that experience of loneliness to the bottom of a mineshaft. Oof, right? Anyway, bear that in mind. Former Business Insider CEO and co-founder Henry Blodget, these days the sole proprietor and staffer of the blog/media company Regenerator, published […]

Time for some optimism and connection from the Lone Star State. @TexasObserver shares a poem from Catherine Lu, “What Connects Us.” Here’s a section:

Is our love the horizon? A line where the sky
appears to meet the earth’s surface—
which means if you are the earth, then I am the sky—
which means if you are this house,
then I am the house behind this house,

It was Shakespeare’s birthday this week (and his death day too). @gbhnews celebrated this by sharing a story about the only surviving scrap of a script in Shakespeare’s handwriting. It’s a revision to a play, “The Book of Sir Thomas More,” and it’s about refugees and immigration. In it, an angry mob tells More that the king has offered safe haven to too many strangers. More urges compassion and empathy, asking the mob to imagine themselves in the position of the immigrants.

cultural erasure is a war crime. this documentary follows karnit mandel, an israeli researcher & filmmaker, as she struggles to uncover the breadth & depth of palestinian film archives seized & held by israel since the invasion of lebanon in 1982.
sad, frustrating, bittersweet, elucidating & - yes - beautiful at times, the result of her toil is worth your time.

"An ancient Greek Cynic would never worry about what curtains or carpets to have, what is on TV tonight or which brand of washing powder gets things whiter. These and similar concerns are the concerns of the civilized and their price is your freedom. The Cynic determines to do without not because without is better or recommended in itself but because this is the only way to demonstrate freedom from burdensome comforts and artificially created obligations. Civilization, to the Cynic, is unfree; it is a set of chains, and they are not worth giving up your freedom for."
