Kinky Kobolds<p>Since the new Twitter TOS takes effect on November 15 and continuing to use the site means you consent to having all of your posts being used to train generative AI, we finally deactivated our one remaining Twitter account.</p><p>As an added insult, once you're logged out, you no longer can edit those privacy settings, so you get opted into all the information sharing that Twitter wants to do. This is why we use uBlock in advanced mode: We can block <em>all</em> requests to Twitter and prevent them from accumulating data to sell in the first place.</p><p>We're on the fence about setting up another account for the sole purpose of viewing content without contributing. Alternately, we could just use a crappy AI to post to the site and poison the training data they're harvesting. Maybe we'll do so in the future, if we find we're missing too much from Twitter, but the recent uptick in <em>everything</em> on Bluesky (and, to a lesser extent, Mastodon) has us feeling like we're not gonna miss anything worth being worried about.</p><p><a href="https://meow.social/tags/ByeTwitter" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ByeTwitter</span></a></p>

I won't accept <a href="https://news.bloomberglaw.com/privacy-and-data-security/x-corp-s-new-privacy-policy-is-latest-to-put-ai-in-spotlight" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">the updated terms of service that mean my posts could be fed to an AI.</a></p><p>I'll likely blank my icon nearer the end of the month. I don't even want my icon to be fed to an algorithm; the artists who've drawn for me deserve better than that.
