The voltage on the LCM brake trigger wire sits at 1.56V, &amp; jumps to 3.3V when you depress a brake lever.</p><p>My rear light has 2 wires (+/-) for the brake light trigger. I connect positive to LCM’s brake trigger wire, &amp; get nothing..</p>

Marcus Jenkins<p>Today another ❤️ for DIY Bafang mid-drive e-bike conversions.</p><p>For fun I bought the cheapest foldable bike from Amazon (*many* flaws but €190) and put a 750W <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Bafang" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Bafang</span></a> motor in it. It was, indeed, fun, but also downright dangerous (poor brakes, etc.).</p><p>I just reprogrammed the motor with a special USB cable and my laptop to halve the power. As I'm biking along, I like to mentally compare it to old-style incandescent light bulbs. Like, when I'm at PAS level 1 and it's pulling 40W, I'm thinking, "Sipping about half a light bulb from the battery". Level 1 maxes out around 80W; just over a 75W bulb (although I usually had 60W bulbs, so that's my conversion base). Or I'll be at PAS 3 using 230W and think, "wow, almost 4 light bulbs to get up this hill!"</p>

It's got a 48V 12Ah battery from <a href="https://social.ridetrans.it/tags/UnitPowerPack" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>UnitPowerPack</span></a> installed (form factor: <a href="https://social.ridetrans.it/tags/Hailong" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Hailong</span></a> G56). I really don't like the default settings and motor is noisy. After getting the <a href="https://social.ridetrans.it/tags/BBSHD" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>BBSHD</span></a> (which either Luna or the prior owners had programmed with fantastic settings) and the <a href="https://social.ridetrans.it/tags/BBS02" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>BBS02</span></a> (which came with stock settings that were pretty bad, but I reprogrammed with the <a href="https://social.ridetrans.it/tags/bafang" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>bafang</span></a> programming cable and now it's almost as good as the BBSHD), I've realized that replacing the TSDZ2 firmware is probably going to be a huge difference.</p>

I was dreading downloading some old crappy windows software and figuring out how to make it work, so this is really nice.</p>
