My kid wants to install Linux on their gaming PC.

What distro would you recommend for someone who wants to run recent AAA games on good hardware?

I literally just ran my first ever sudo command. 
I chose Mint because apparently it works well with Steam and my 4070 (can confirm the 4070 part)

Ah, cool. I'd used Mint but it's been so long that my experience isn't relevant anymore.

The handy thing about Mint is that is has all the advantages of Ubuntu, but the layout is familiar to Windows users. It was an easy switch for me.
@forpeterssake @alltherum That carries some weight. I like the idea of giving them an easy transition off Windows.
