On the topic of not owing people my time: I mute people who piss me off.
Then I un-mute them when I've forgotten how they pissed me off.
I also un-follow people who turn out to be overly hostile, manipulative or just plain negative. Even if I agree with their main themes. Sorry kids, life's just too short.
So far, I like how this is working out for me.
I'm really enjoying the interactions I have here, and nipping crap in the bud is part of that.
And I just blocked my first GitHub user! Milestones every day, yes indeed.
I am quite serious about wanting to keep discourse on my project forums civilized and polite.
The ban hammer will fall.
@HerraBRE
Makes sense.
I, for example, unfollow people who post too much low-effort content. I wish I could follow two people without seeing one of them replying to the other. There's often two cool people, who post interesting stuff, but then they start replying to each other "NANO NANO NANO" "HAKASE HAKASE HAKASE" or equivalent, for 20 posts, which fills up my TL and makes it hard t ofind the interesting stuff.
@HerraBRE if your time is valuable and you don't want to squander it, then I hope you've got a few good admins that are keeping it regulated. Because @ChrisWere recently came to realise that it was a huge time investment, but I can't find the video about it anymore.
@mangeurdenuage My time and attention are valuable. I don't squander them.
