Happy #ArborDay! Here’s one of our videos celebrating trees and tree-planting:
The surprisingly connected origins of greedflation, yearn, soufflé, blow, and budget.

This is why I hate the word "#terrorism". It creates Mexican standoff scenarios like this. A terrorist is someone who causes terror. But that is so vague. The #irish have done that, the #english have done that, the #US has done that. Hell. I'm a #gay man and my people are terrorized by #christians. But we don't call them terrorists. It's so vague anyone can scream it because it has no meaning anymore. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/ce3ve317g5do #words #news #Palestine
@briankrebs Believe it or not, we did this right through high school with our kids. Actually managed to sit down for dinner quite a few nights per week. I know it “stuck” because as adults with family for holidays, or just dinner at our house, one of them would surprise us and suggest to the group. We call it “one good thing”. And to change it up a little when they were older we instead took turns choosing a word from the dictionary to share. (Thanks! Writing this made me smile). #tradition #words #OneGoodThing
Happy #EarthDay! To celebrate, here’s our video about the Food Web, and how it’s a better model for ecosystems than the food chain. We made it for our friend the @RvingNaturalist’s channel, and she has a lot more videos there about nature and ecology that you should check out! https://youtu.be/OxKvcA4NpaQ
Hey, it’s #BigWordDay! Surprisingly, few of our etymological videos centre on big words, but we’ve done a couple of shorts about some bigger words, like Kenspeckle and Bedizened: https://youtu.be/rpFH70CPMWA

#Words fail to describe what the #children of #Gaza have been through in the past 560 days of #genocide.
A recent #painting by #artist Irina Naji - "Children of War".
I made myself just brute-force memorize it after my own mortifying miss.
But nice mnemonic! for those that still need that kind of, er, accommodation ...
Beloved Tor editor Teresa Nielsen Hayden once wrote about interviewing candidates for publishing jobs. If they could spell "accommodate," they might make good copy editors.
Decades ago, after fumbling it myself, I asked 30 other experts how to spell the word. All my fellow marketing writers plus managers, editors, tech writers, etc., in the corporate communications office where I worked. Only 1 person — a lowly (but beloved) typist — got it right.
Now I need to learn to swear professionally!

Good morning, here’s today's wise words. Something that seems to especially infect the satiated but never satisfied.
Happy #InternationalAmateurRadioDay! The history of the development of amateur radio is pretty fascinating, and we get into it in the second half of our video on Amateur Sport: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=im0C18vcyFE
