@steele Have a look at #tuxedocomputers , they have performant models most of which are "low cost" when compared to a MacBook pro.

@Lydie i have same on old dell latitude e5520, works fine as my second backup and testing laptop. I plan to buy proper linux laptop (probably from #tuxedocomputers since I am EU based) as my new main. its my plan to leave apple ecosystem in next years.

@lene I just switched my personal MacBook with an Ubuntu driven #tuxedocomputers machine. Not so happy with the battery life but love learning new things in the command line every day.

Ownership.
I have been using #Apple products for a couple of months just to get knowledge, not impressed.
Everything works but its also a rigid framework.
Now back to #tuxedocomputers .

There are two main Linux hardware companies selling computers and Tuxedo's computers are almost half price compared to System76's. When my Macbook Air M1 dies, I'll get a Tuxedo. I dislike most offers by "normal" manufacturers anyway, e.g. by dell or lenovo or asus/acer. They're too windows specific. Even dell's new laptops don't support linux well.
Szukałem ostatnio jakiejś alternatywy dla #KDE #Neon, jednak nadal opartej o #Plasma. Raczej czegoś na #debian (polecicie coś?) lub #ubuntu.
I znalazłem ciekawą dystrybucję bazującą na Ubuntu, robioną przez ludzi z niemieckiej firmy dostarczającej laptopy z #Linux -> #TuxedoComputers https://www.tuxedocomputers.com/index.php
Dystrybucja (co za zdziwienie
) nazywa się #TuxedoOs i chyba zagości na dłużej na moim starszym lapku.

Z ciekawostek: wyeliminowano Snap-y i snapd (trzeba doinstalować). Lisek jest z paczki deb, przygotowanj przez nich, a nie ze snap-a robionego przez Mozillę.
Mają całkiem fajne control-center pod własne sprzęty, ale z #ThinkPad-em też sporo rzeczy działa.
Polecam zerknąć :)
Edit: No i w przeciwieństwie do KDE Neon (który jest "goły" na starcie) zawiera większość potrzebnego oprogramowania tuż po instalacji.
