Written and produced by Macklemore, it expresses his support for pro-Palestinian protests on college campuses calling for divestment from Israel and a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war. <br>The song's title refers to pro-Palestinian activists' "renaming" of Hamilton Hall at Columbia University to "Hind's Hall" in honor of Hind Rajab, the six-year-old Palestinian girl exiled by Israeli forces in the Gaza Strip. In the song, Macklemore criticizes US funding to Israel; he describes the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories as apartheid. <br>Hind Rajab's murder by the Israeli military occurred on January 29, 2024, in the Gazan neighborhood of Tel al-Hawa. The girl was the sole survivor of Israeli tank fire on the vehicle in which she and her family had fled. <br>Rajab's family was fleeing the Tel Al-Hawa neighborhood of Gaza City when an Israeli army tank fired on their vehicle, killing Rajab's aunt, uncle, and four cousins. The only other survivor, Rajab's 15-year-old cousin, called the Palestine Red Crescent Society for urgent help in a recorded phone call, crying and screaming that Israeli forces were shooting at them amidst the sound of gunfire before stopping when she was killed. <br>Six-year-old Rajab was the only survivor in the car at the time, surrounded by her family's bodies, and her three-hour emergency phone call with the Red Crescent was released, in which she told the operator: "I'm so scared, please come. Come, take me. Please, will you come?"
