I didn’t know that the Sherlock Holmes short story called The Five Orange Pips has a significant Klu Klux Klan motif.

Following the events of the night prior, Sherlock Holmes makes a decision to call upon Miss Adler. There's no denying the truth of it all. The pair have already made their confessions.
A small teaser:
“He wasn’t wrong,” she added. “You /are/ a man, after all. And I am a woman.”
His head tilted, mind elsewhere as he said, “You aren’t /a woman/, Irene. You are /the Woman/.”

Watching the 80's #SherlockHolmes with Jeremy Irons.
How the hell dangerous would it be to go through one's own Victorian home with a gun in the event of an intruder?
With all the busts, statues, and mirrors, surely one would shoot something other than the intruder?
I made no remark, however, but sat nursing my wounded leg. I had a Jezail bullet through it some time before, and, though it did not prevent me from walking, it ached wearily at every change of the weather.
— Watson, in “The Sign of the Four”
Finished A Study in Scarlet audiobook. Now onto The Sign of Four.
One of my favorite books.
“I consider that a man's brain originally is like a little empty attic, and you have to stock it with such furniture as you choose. A fool takes in all the lumber of every sort that he comes across, so that the knowledge which might be useful to him gets crowded out, or at best is jumbled up with a lot of other things, so that he has a difficulty in laying his hands upon it.”

I’ve restarted listening to the 65-hour long Stephen Fry narrated audiobook edition of Sherlock Holmes: The Definitive Collection.
It starts with A Study in Scarlet. Which is 4-hours long in itself.

@hollie lololol
I've been on a bit of a kick of learning more about Sherlock Holmes ever since I realized that I tend to like detective shows/movies/stories that feature a Holmes-like main character. (Psych is at the top of the list because of the comedy, followed closely by Murdoch Mysteries.)
I really should read the original stories at some point but it's taking a while as my reading list is too long
@hollie Nice! Hope you like it feel free to let me know, I'm curious
P.S. on second thought Robin Tunney's character in the series might be more analogous to Inspector Lestrade than Watson, but if so there isn't really any equivalent to Watson. I probably shouldn't be trying too hard to make these comparisons anyway, it's a whole separate story, not an adaptation....

I've been looking for something like this for a while...and now I got one.
A facsimile edition of all #SherlockHolmes stories from The Strand Magazine.
Incl the drawings by Sidney #Paget.
And they already made that in 1976 for me...
I saw the figure of a man upon the tor.
