GMK Evo-X2 mini PC with Ryzen AI Max+ 395 ships in May, up for pre-order now for $1499 and up

The GMK Evo-X2 is a little computer that packs a lot of processing power thanks to an AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 Strix Halo processor with 16 CPU cores, 32 threads, Radeon 8060S integrated graphics and an NPU with up to 50 TOPS of AI processing performance.

First unveiled in March, the Evo-X2 is now available for pre-order in the US… kind of. If you visit the GMK website you can reserve one of […]

My aging #Ubiquiti Edgerouter-X is failing. So, I spent 3 hours yesterday trying to set up a new #Unifi Gateway Max without success. I'm returning it.

I decided to just get a #miniPC with dual 2.5Gbe and install #Opnsense on it. (This guy: a.co/d/431PbIV)

I'm hoping it arrives early because I'm not sure the Edgerouter will last until next month. I've also never used Opnsense, so this will be another grand experiment.

Maybe I'll install it in a VM on Proxmox for now so I can FAFO.

I want a tiny fanless #miniPC with an N350 or N355, and 2x m.2 2280 NVMe slots plus 1x 2.5" SATA slot. single 2.5GbE port, some USB3 ports, basic simple display ports.

those CPUs are neck and neck in benchmarks with an i5-8500T (of which I have one now as my 'webserver' Proxmox host) while using less than half the power, making them viable in fanless setups where the case is a solid aluminum heat sink.

I suppose a machine which could take 2 NVMe sticks and a SATA drive would require an even bigger amount of aluminum than the other fanless N-series mini boxes available in order to remain fanless... that is one downside and potential barrier to such a thing being available

Asus NUC 15 Pro mini PCs with Intel Arrow Lake chips now available

After introducing the Asus NUC 15 Pro and NUC 15 Pro+ mini PCs with Intel Arrow Lake processors during CES in January, Asus introduced them again with press releases in March and April. But you couldn’t actually buy the little desktop computers at the time. Now you can.

This week Simply NUC announced it was taking pre-orders for fully configured versions of the NUC 15 Pro Cyber Canyon, and […]

Shuttle launches two XPC nano mini PCs with Intel Meteor Lake processors

Earlier this year small form-factor PC maker Shuttle introduced the first member of the XPC nano series to feature an integrated NPU for hardware-accelerated AI features. Now the company is expanding the lineup with two new models.

What’s a little confusing is that the Shuttle XPC nano NA10H7 that was unveiled in February features and AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS Hawk Point processor, while the new […]

Again on this topic, "of a Mini PCs vs". Currently, with an #AMR CPUs isn’t cost-effective, the board alone costs as much as a #MiniPC with an #AMD R5 5600H. Even the #Intel N150 is a better option since it’s ready to use out of the box, whereas #SBC require additional accessories, driving up the total cost.

This DIY NAS has four M.2 slots for storage, two 2.5 GbE LAN ports, and an Alder Lake-N processors

The Maiyunda M1S is a small, low-power computer with an Intel Alder Lake-N processor, an aluminum body, and support for plenty of storage thanks to four M.2 2280 slots that can theoretically hold up to 32TB of storage (if you’re willing to spend the money on four 8TB SSDs).

Positioned for use as a server or network-attached storage device, the M1S may support a lot of storage, but it’s not […]
