A remarkable finding has emerged in #Italy, where the remains of a luxurious #Roman villa have arisen from the waters of #LakeFusaro, which is near #Naples. This phenomenon has been attributed to #bradyseism, which is a geological process brought about by the movements of #magma or hydrothermal fluids beneath the Earth’s surface.

Denn seismische Messungen enthüllen, dass sich unter dem #Kolumbo-#Vulkan schmelzflüssiges #Magma sammelt. Die Magmakammer könnte sich in den nächsten 150 Jahren weit genug füllen, um eine starke explosive Eruption mit #Tsunami auszulösen, wie #Vulkanologen berichten. Sie empfehlen eine engmaschige Überwachung.

Unter dem Kolumbo-Vulkan hat sich demnach schon wieder flüssiges, potenziell eruptives Magma angesammelt. Die aktuelle Füllmenge liegt den Daten zufolge bei rund 1,4 Kubikkilometer – und nimmt stetig weiter zu. Wie die Vulkanologen ermittelten, füllt sich das Reservoir mit einer Rate von rund 0,004 Kubikkilometer pro Jahr oder 330 Kilogramm pro Sekunde.
