Hi everyone,
I just soldered my very first (succesful) pcb for #LoRaWAN end device, for this design I used XIAO #esp32 s3 and Wio-e5 module. I based my schematic on the Wio-E5 documentation, just adapted it to esp-32. Moving forward to my problem, I just cannot communicate with Wio-e5. I uploaded example code I used for communicating with grove lora-E5 (which I believe is the same thing, I'm not entirely sure if the firmware is the same.) but it just doesn't send any data.I tried communicating via AT commands, but that also failed. I really tried to find any more information in documentation but I just give up for now. Thanks for any help.
Just to make it clear, first schematic isn't mine, it's the one included in wio-e5 documentation, second one is mine.

OK fedi, I get it. #Meshtastic sucks and uses proprietary #LoRa chips. So #LoRaWAN is out to.
So what should I be using if I want to set up some battery-powered sensors in the forest around the house. What open #LPWAN stacks are there that would work on 1 to 2 km scale in hilly terrain? #Wize ? #Weightless ? So many protocols... Help!

I really tried. I went through the docs, various threads, but to no avail. Can't find a way to change the reporting interval of a Makerfabs Agrosense #LoRaWan temperature sensor. There are easy steps for TTN, but not the raw code I could send from #ChirpStack.

The Pine Phone Pro arrived earlier this week. After a few unfocused, false starts I finally got it booting into Gnome and currently installing Waydroid over ssh.
My wife uses a cheesey coupon clipping app (iOS/Android) for doing the groceries and such. I'll need to take a look at what traffic flows in-n-out of this app to see what is being farmed and segregate/container off if required.
We are heavy Signal users but I may use this as an excuse to set up a XMPP server. Twas on the 'roadmap'.
Initial impressions are good. Definitely not as shiny and smooth as an iOS or Android device but - it's a phone. We spent half our lives with dumb rotary dialing doohickeys - we'll survive. lol
Pretty impressed with Gnome on a touch device so far. This is my first real experience with it. No 'klunkiness' so far but just scratching the surface.
It will be interesting to see how a non-technical person takes to it. I'm going to monkey with it myself for the first week or so to find the hard edges to save her the frustration.
I want to experiment with Android Auto - see what (if anything) is possible.
I also obtained a Seeed Studio Sensecap T1000-E (meshtastic, lora, etc.) to connect to this device. We'll see how far I get with that.

Related query. ST Microelectronics has a set of #LoRaWAN demo boards (P-NUCLEO-LRWAN2 and 3) for the 433/470 and 868/915 MHz #LoRa bands; has anyone tried repurposing them for #meshtastic?

We just named a new LoRaWAN gateway LoRa Palmer. If it dies there might be some problems with finding out who did it. But we'll always suspect that twisted pair.

Wir sind heute mit dem Fahrrad zum Geburtstagskaffee nach Siegburg gefahren. Begleitet hat uns ein #paxcounter auf #ttgo Basis.
Es ist erstaunlich, wie gut die Abdeckung in #lorawan inzwischen ist. Als #freifunkrheinsieg (FFRS) sind wir seit Jahren dabei, dass LoRaWAN #gateway Netz in der Region Rhein-Sieg aktiv auszubauen.
Vier der erkennbaren Gateways sind von uns, vom #ffrs.

Wikipedia says, that #LoRa is is a physical proprietary radio communication technique. And:

I'm unsure how should I understand that.
Is #LoRaWAN free to use?
Does this proprietary part apply only to chips?
And, if I buy chips with support for the proprietary LoRa protocol, then I can use LoRaWAN for free without any legal issues.
