Arvo hill climb. 27c and a bit of wind.
Bike ride in the morning, bit of a walk in the arvo. The place has really dried out.

9am and on. Moving pieces again. Watching in astonishment these few moments to completely flood the daily calendar. Fast context switches again, stack growing, orientation waning. Across the street, people are moving out again, other windows opening to empty rooms. A soft sun casting its shadows.
TBT This is from an overnight in the Forest of Nisene Marks in Aptos, California six years ago.
First I noticed how large the rose appeared, then the passion flower (which I am no fan of tbh) and only later the huge web between them #biodiversity #inthegarden #latesummer
I sincerely hope that one year was enough to exhaust all the pesticides that might have been used on this plant, which unfortunately I was unable to get organically grown: it's so popular with the hoverflies that they appear to be fighting for their spot #aster #latesummer #plants #biodiversity #insects #bugs

TBT This is from a trip into Colorado from our home in Santa Fe eight years ago. This was the first time I'd seen Gunnison Canyon, which is pretty awe inspiring.
Dont know how its for you all on here but I do quite enjoy the first taste of autumn / late summer that approaches...
Schattenbilder zweier vergessener Einkaufswagen. Immer noch ist es warm.
This reed, likely Phragmites australis, is a very sexy shade of purple #plants #latesummer #wandeleninnederland
For @vlrny #GoOutsideForMe here's Pearly the #cat enjoying some supervised outdoor time last week. #LateSummer #Autumn #Alberta #MarginalGardening

The Joys of Gardening
I’ve sowed and mowed, and hoed, in pain,
I’ve seeded and weeded and pled for rain.
I’ve spaded and waded in mud to my knees,
And planted and pruned and watered the trees.
I’ve worked in the heat till my feet were sore,
And raked, and staked till I could do no more.
So, I’ll set back and watch, as row by row,
The flowers bloom and the vegetables grow.
I smile when I see how much I’ve done,
And sigh when I realize I’ve just begun.
Soon I’ll be picking, and digging, and toiling,
Canning and freezing, baking and boiling.
But all of the work was worth the pain,
Being in the garden keeps me sane!

If your garden is running out of steam, look at Birmingham Botanical Gardens and how they make late August and September so colourful. This is from a trip I made a few years back but it never fails to inspire!
