Anyone has tips how to conveniently show large dataset linked to H3 grid (level 10, over part of Europe) on a MapLibre map? I've found github.com/INSPIDE/h3j-h3t but getting h3t seems quite cumbersome and the only other solution I can think of is to use tippecanoe and turn it into PMTiles. But that sorts of defies the benefits of H3. I thought I could somehow simply ship just the H3 IDs but can't force myself to write a code to generate h3t from scratch... #webmapping #maplibre #h3

Justus made a great intro on using #DGGS through #xarray #xdggs at the #Pangeo showcase talk. Xdggs is now in a stage where you can use it fairly robustly with #HEALPIX and #H3. Other integrations like for #DGGRID are developed as separate plugins.

I guess one reason why I haven’t done heat maps before is because I don’t think they are as useful compared to other cartographic #dataviz techniques such as binning and choropleths. But maybe I’m missing something?

Anyway, for the heat map, I used the Leaflet.heat #LeafletJS plugin by Volodymyr Agafonkin, creator of Leaflet: github.com/Leaflet/Leaflet.hea

The hexbin map uses the #H3 hex grid system with the #Viridis Inferno sequential palette.

🇪🇺 #Nyx is compatible with #Ariane6, #Falcon9, #Neutron, #H3, and #GSLV. The "#Bikini" reentry demonstrator was intended to demonstrate the company's #reentry technology. Unfortunately, #Ariane6's upper stage failed on its deorbit burn, so the Bikini capsule remains stuck in space. The current timeline for Nyx's debut is 📆 2028 arstechnica.com/space/2024/11/

#30DayMapChallenge Day 4 #Hexagons comes from @haavardaagesen showing the locations of geotagged Tweets from cross-border movers in Europe during 2021–2022. The data is used in the #BORDERSPACE project lead by Olle Jarv to study cross-border mobility.

Study of the mobility is crucial in the #EU as the #Schengen agreement allows for free mobility between member states resulting in little official data on the characteristics of cross-border mobility.
