I mean…I think whatever evidence the psychiatrists have that #Trump is mentally unfit to hold office (and there is a lot) the notion of ‘Red, White and Blueland’ must get top billing.

Was this proposed name change publicly discussed in #Greenland ahead of last week’s election?

It’s bellowing out loud that any feeble US promises of ‘self determination’ are just blatant lies.

Ok…so despite the senile rantings and ravings by #Trump about acquiring Greenland either by purchase or force, I had not clocked the name of the bill on it…

‘Introduced in House (02/10/2025)
Red, White, and Blueland Act of 2025

This bill authorizes the President to enter into negotiations with the government of #Denmark to purchase or otherwise acquire Greenland. The bill also renames #Greenland as Red, White, and Blueland.’

Well isn’t that interesting…

“According to the US Geological Survey, the basin off Greenland’s east coast alone contains 31 billion barrels of oil equivalent and west Greenland about half of that. If this was all recoverable, Greenland could become one of the world’s largest fossil fuel producers.”

Really fascinating bit of work on #genetics of #Greenland and what it can tell us about the population in the past and present.
It also really demonstrates why it's important to include people from diverse origins in genetic databases, but more importantly, it's also about HOW to include indigenous people in research + how to consider data sovereignty.
Also applicable in #climateScience applications, there's a nice overview here too:
