Victor Wiebe<p>I've been slowly moving away from "Big I.T." for a variety of reasons: privacy, <a href="https://nerdculture.de/tags/fuckzuck" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>fuckzuck</span></a>, <a href="https://nerdculture.de/tags/fuckgoogle" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>fuckgoogle</span></a>, and more.</p><p>Migrating away from Gmail is a slow haul, but through a combination of buying my own domains and email service from dynu.com I've been moving email; I'll probably leave gmail as a burner email. </p><p>I've installed <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodon.xyz/@nextcloud" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>nextcloud</span></a></span> on a cloud hosted VM from contabo for an email front end, contacts, calendaring, and photos (no more google photos). Yesterday I got open source vaultwarden running to replace lastpass (which isn't Big Tech, but if I'm self-hosted my shit, I might as well). Nextcloud also has a good file system, but I've already purchased a lifetime 2TB from pcloud. </p><p>Next up: replace Google Docs with Nextcloud/OnlyOffice (or similar). I gave a go at it the other day but ran into issues. In the meantime I've got <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://fosstodon.org/@libreoffice" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>libreoffice</span></a></span> installed locally. </p><p>After that: replace all Google apps on my phone with alternatives. Any good Maps replacements?</p><p>And then (and during), <a href="https://nerdculture.de/tags/coffee" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>coffee</span></a></p>
