Have an opportunity to run some fibre cable to the homelab in our external garage when we dig a trench for something else. I’ll be running Cat6 also. Cable run will be about 25m.

Don’t really know where to start with fibre. Any recommendations of cable and where to source from in the UK?

I love #languagelearning. I studied #German and #Spanish as a kid, took #Japanese in uni, and I'm currently studying #ASL #Cree #Tokipona #Spanish and #Chinese. I also dabble in #French and #Latin sometimes and I'm learning #Greggshorthand to write faster. Cree is my favourite language and Spanish is my second.

I've been cursed since childhood with that lovely trifecta of #heds #pots and #mcas. Healing slowly but surely.

Hope I get to meet even more cool people the algorithms would normally drown out on other social media sites. I love it here!

I don't know who needs to hear this, but either your local businesses put #fibre everywhere, your #government does - or you do.

It's a matter of #military #security to have a #network that has redundancy upon redundancy in order to thwart takeovers.

It should even go so far as your local neighborhood being it's own #ISP, that you and your neighbors can expand the capacity at will.

The #internet has become ubiquitous with #freedomofspeech and #organizational #power. Why limit it?

Y'all, I met an indigo dyer today¹, and I just so happened to have some yucca fibre with me, and they just so happened to be kind enough to dip the fibres twice in an indigo bath, and THEY TURNED OUT SO BEAUTIFUL!

It's like mermaid hair! And I hand twisted a little thread with it, and I love it!!

A skein of yucca thread, freshly dyed with indigo and draped over my hand. It's a gorgeous green-blue and I love it.
The same skein, now dry, tied in the middle with a hand-twisted thread. It's a gorgeous blue, and the colour is so nice it's thrown off the white-balance for my camera, because it can't accept that such a lovely colour exists.

I was impressed by the intricate design and flawless execution of this traditional Colombian textile. Threads of culture. It made me realise cultural artefacts as simple as a piece of fabric can be used to maintain indigenous cultures and traditions. It's more than weaving fibres, it's a political act.

SFR vient de m'appeler pour m'annoncer la fin de la commercialisation de leurs offres hors fibre. J'ai d'abord cru à une blague, mais pas du tout, c'est officiel, on va toustes devoir payer plus cher pour un service non sollicité. Adieu les 13 balles par mois, bonjour les 29,90 minimum. Je suis deg.
