Marce Coll<p>In the past couple of days I debugged an issue affecting <a href="https://functional.cafe/tags/rustler" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>rustler</span></a> in <a href="https://functional.cafe/tags/illumos" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>illumos</span></a> ( <a href="https://functional.cafe/tags/omnios" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>omnios</span></a> ). Rustler is an ergonomic way to implement NIFs for <a href="https://functional.cafe/tags/erlang" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>erlang</span></a> / <a href="https://functional.cafe/tags/elixir" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>elixir</span></a> and they weren't loading at all. This led me to a fairly fun rabbithole.</p><p>I've written a first draft of the experience debugging in <a href="https://functional.cafe/tags/illumos" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>illumos</span></a> here: <a href="https://system-illumination.org/01-rustler.html" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">system-illumination.org/01-rus</span><span class="invisible">tler.html</span></a></p><p>In the spirit of the recent <a href="https://functional.cafe/tags/illumoscafe" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>illumoscafe</span></a> I also take a chance to start my <a href="https://functional.cafe/tags/illumos" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>illumos</span></a> site: <a href="https://system-illumination.org" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">system-illumination.org</span><span class="invisible"></span></a>, where I'll be posting and documenting my learnings to shine a bit more light into this beautiful OS and tooling.</p><p>The above write-up is my first post on this new platform.</p><p>Hope you like it!</p>
