Masked by a silken scarf Whitefoord Jukes #Curtis, aged 17 years, was arrested while crouching behind a counter in the premises of the New Zealand Farmers’ Co-operative Association of Canterbury, Ltd., at 3.30 a.m. to-day. Curtis, though handcuffed, made a great bid for his liberty, but was recaptured after a splendid break, which traversed several blocks and ended at the back of the municipal chambers. It was found, eventually, that Curtis was arrested on his third job, as the information he gave to the police led to the recovery of a large quantity of stolen property, associating him with the operations at two other business premises.

… Eventually Curtis was cornered after a long chase, and even then he unsuccessfully endeavoured to break away again. Curtis appeared in the Court this morning charged with theft, and was remanded for a week. The #police said that there were other charges to be preferred against him.

But I want to focus your attention on the fact that information security is not the only, perhaps not even the main issue. Note that no one in the chat is saying, “Hey, we sure it’s cool to be talking about this on Signal?” Or, “Should we be worried this is an insecure channel?” That and the simple logic of the matter tells us this is commonplace in the new administration... Especially in the national security domain, many things the government does have to remain secret. Sometimes those things remain secret for years or decades. But they’re not secrets from the U.S. government. The U.S. government owns all those communications, all those facts of its own history. Using a Signal app like this is hiding what’s happening from the government itself. And that is almost certainly not an unintended byproduct but the very reason for the use. These are disappearing communications. They won’t be in the National Archives. Future administrations won’t know what happened. There also won’t be any records to determine whether crimes were committed. This all goes to the fundamental point Trump has never been able to accept: that the U.S. government is the property of the American people and it persists over time with individual officeholders merely temporary occupants charged with administering an entity they don’t own or possess.

This hatred must be stopped now. While I see war crimes on both sides and civilians suffering, I can only say: Dumbledum and Dumbledee. All war criminals and their supporters must be convicted and sentenced.

This is absolutely outrageous. 🤬During a hearing on #SanctuaryCities today, Republican #JamesComer of #Kentucky refuses to let Democrat Congresswoman #AyannaPressley of #Massachusetts to enter into the record an article correctly reporting that US citizens commit #crimes far in excess of crimes committed by #immigrants. He refuses to even allow her to enter the title of the article. This is #censorship. This is #oppression. This is #WhiteMaleSupremacy. F*** Comer & f*** #HouseRepublicans.

…At the heart of the controversy is the vague language of #Trump’s mass #pardons for #Jan6 *rioters*. He granted #clemency to anyone “convicted of offenses related to events that occurred at or near the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021.”

Jan 6 defendants have repeatedly argued that the language is so broad it covers other #crimes that have nothing to do w/Jan 6 but were discovered during the vast #criminal probe stemming from the Capitol attack.

During a 2-hr hearing in her federal courtroom, US District Judge Dabney Friedrich—a Trump appointee—grilled a #DOJ atty about the matter & appeared to leave with more questions than answers.

3 weeks ago, the #DOJ was emphatic: #Trump may have pardoned Kentuckian Dan Wilson for #crimes he committed at the Capitol on #Jan6, but that #pardon did not extend to his unrelated conviction for illegally storing #firearms at his home.

Then, on Tues, the US atty in DC [#EdMartin] reversed course, saying it had “received further clarity” about Trump’s true intent, which included pardoning Wilson for the #gun case. Prosecutors did not explain how they arrived at this new “clarity.”

I have some MAGA friends who keep harping about threats from minorities. Then I asked them, have you ever been a victim of a crime? I have many many times, and I have the scars to prove it.

Then I asked them, if you were a victim of a crime, who was the perpetrator? Most of their answers were American-born citizens. I have been robbed by more Whites than any other races…
