Welp! After last night's High Frontier 4 All session (we finished it at 03:00!), some simpler board/card games were in order today, for a palate cleanse.
That's why today we resorted to the classics! Cribbage is very well known in the UK (I think also in the USA), but largely unknown in Romania. Thus, I had the pleasure of also teaching it to my friends. It first appeared in England in the XVIIth Century and the oldest rules we have for it date from 1662.
Even though I have a large collection of modern board games and card games, I can't deny that traditional card games still hold up and are incredibly fun. And I don't need to do any lengthy set-up: just pull out a pack of cards and hours of fun guaranteed! Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to convince them to also play some French Tarot.
Just found out my favorite multiplayer #cribbage app, which has been broken for a while, is not only working again, but getting an upgrade. If anyone wants an occasional game, feel free to hmu.

I finally got around to building a tool I've wanted for a while: it takes a #cribbage hand and tells you the expected value of each of your discard options. Mostly it's confirmed my intuition for this is pretty good, but there are a couple of exceptions: I overvalue potential double runs and undervalue low rank cards (under 5).
We're a bit behind on Only Connect, so it'll be a while before we watch the new series. But I'm looking forward to rooting for this team on the basis of our common interest alone. #cribbage
Played some #cribbage today with these triangular cards. They were fun to use!
I was behind quite a bit for most of the game, but I got a really good hand right at the end. Not enough to take the lead, but exciting nonetheless!
