"Easter Sunrise" teableau for 04/20/25

It was in actuality a cloudy lightening of the sky rather than a sunrise when I let my dog out at dawn, but the bird choir didn't care, emitting a blazing chorale to the day even if the solar orb did not.

Since I always say White2Tea's Arbor Red is black tea for puerh drinkers, I was curious to see how Arbor Red would react to brewing in Jiri Duchek Rye stoneware, instead of the usual ruyao gaiwan, would affect the tea. (I usually only brew young raw puerh in Duchek Rye stoneware.) My initial impression is it makes a huge difference, smoothing the rough edges of the tea. Maybe a little too much?

"Thrown Together" teableau for 04/18/25

I rigged up this one at my volunteer gig today using borrowed treasures.

Tea tableau on a MidCentury caneback chair upholstered in gold velour, with a figural teapot shaped like a candy shop, a vintage Royal Albert Petit Point cup and saucer, a large crystal apple tree with six faceted crystal apples, each of a different color, and a black tea called Creme de la Earl from The First Sip.

"Little Bunny Frou-Frou" teableau for 04/16/25

A foo-foo bunny bops fieldmice on the head, but a frou-frou bunny gives them a makeover.

Tea tableau in pink and grey. There is a pink polkadotted cozy with a frothy white bow, a vintage rosebud patterned cup and saucer with a graceful pink handle, an embroidered pink striped bunny, a needlework pink and white bunny, a porcelain rose, a rose patterned ceramic spoon, and a pink tin of customer blended black tea flavored with rose, strawberry, and cream from Adagio, called Pride and Prejudice, all on a grey tea towel with pink trim.

On this day, 28 years ago, the Good Friday Agreement was signed in Belfast.

Primarily green tea tableau with Celtic knotwork and claddagh motif on tea cozy and tea packet of Irish Breakfast black tea, on a tea towel decorated with quizzical looking rabbits, with an antique cup and coordinating vintage saucer, and a small bowl decorated with a shamrock.

"Waiting For the Wabbit" teableau for 04/08/25

Doggos should get Easter baskets, too.

Bountiful tulip fields grace the Skagit Valley every spring. My cup & saucer understood the assignment, too.

My wife is out of town, so I can enjoy this burly black tea from White2Tea on Saturday morning. 2018 Arbor Red is a bit smoky, a bit bitter, touch of returning sweetness; definitely a black tea for people who enjoy aggressive raw puerh.

A few Alice In Wonderland elements seemed in keeping with April Fool's Day, for quirkiness.

This tea cozy cover was the very first one I bought from The Family Busyness on Etsy, thereby launching my mania for tea cozy covers & inspiring this peculiar teableau hobby.

Xizihao Daughter mostly sells raw puerh, but they also sell ripened puerh and the odd Black tea batch. I don't know much about this 2022 "Wild Black" other than it is from "Unmanaged Gardens" somewhere in Vietnam. It has the fruity character I associate with Yunnan sun dried black tea and good durability/length of flavor. A good zippy morning cup.

"Raven About It" teableau for 03/28/25

The mug was handcrafted by an artisan in Juneau, AK, where I got it. Ravens abound there.

There is a painted pottery mug with a raven design made by an artisan in Alaska, a Fiestaware plate with a raven image, and hand colored artwork with depictions of ravens including one in the Tlingit style. The tablecloth and tea cozy have spiral designs. The tea is Golden Maple Cream black tea.

The tea is Cardamom black loose leaf from Ahmad. Altogether the effect is mellow and golden, old fashioned and nostalgic, a sense of elegance that is also cozy.
