Mix Mistress Alice💄<p>"Johnson says that this affinity for the sex “woman” arose out of the work that her mother did to help people live, to allow her, the young Johnson, and her siblings, et cetera, to live. And what we call “femininity” in a political sense is that legacy—that history of life-making. We have to understand this history in this way. We have to understand these movements that I’ve listed as the substance of feminism. Which is to say that the goal of something called “feminism” is to generalize these conditions as daily life, not to escape them: to make everybody collectively responsible for the kinds of provision that Johnson’s mother produced."—Emma Heaney </p><p>On the Cisness of the Bourgeoisie &gt;</p><p><a href="https://pinko.online/web/on-the-cisness-of-the-bourgeoisie" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">pinko.online/web/on-the-cisnes</span><span class="invisible">s-of-the-bourgeoisie</span></a></p><p><a href="https://todon.eu/tags/interview" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>interview</span></a> <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/Emma_Heaney" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Emma_Heaney</span></a> <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/feminism" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>feminism</span></a> <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/cisness" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>cisness</span></a> <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/political_economy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>political_economy</span></a> <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/motherhood" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>motherhood</span></a> <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/women" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>women</span></a> <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/Marsha_P_Johnson" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Marsha_P_Johnson</span></a> <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/autonomy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>autonomy</span></a> <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/feminity" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>feminity</span></a> <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/Sophie_Lewis" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Sophie_Lewis</span></a> <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/unmediated_by_men" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>unmediated_by_men</span></a> <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/Cathy_Cohen" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Cathy_Cohen</span></a> <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/essentialism" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>essentialism</span></a> <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/womanhood" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>womanhood</span></a> <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/labour_split" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>labour_split</span></a> <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/social_relations" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>social_relations</span></a> <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/solidarity" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>solidarity</span></a> <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/femmephobia" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>femmephobia</span></a> <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/whorephobia" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>whorephobia</span></a> <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/reproductive_labour" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>reproductive_labour</span></a> <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/penetrability" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>penetrability</span></a> <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/subordination" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>subordination</span></a> <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/patriarchy" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>patriarchy</span></a> <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/sexual_violence" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>sexual_violence</span></a> <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/social_value" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>social_value</span></a></p>

Yesterday, the P’urhépecha municipality of Cherán, Michoacán, celebrated 14 years of autonomy. It began on April 15, 2011, when a group of women blocked cartel-linked illegal loggers from removing trees from the community. This act sparked a mass uprising that saw the community reclaim its territory, establishing barricades, 179 permanent bonfires, a form of autonomous government rooted in P’urhépecha forms of communal organization, and expelling the cartels, police, and political parties.

If you want to know more about Cherán, might I suggest "The Bonfires of Autonomy," a piece I wrote for the anthology edited by @cbmilstein, "Deciding for Ourselves: The Promise of Direct Democracy:" akpress.org/deciding-for-ourse

www.akpress.orgDeciding For Ourselves<p>This anthology explores this “sense of freedom in the air,” as one piece puts it, by looking at contemporary examples of autonomous, directly democratic spaces and the real-world dilemmas they experience, all the while underscoring the egalitarian ways of life that are collectively generated in them.</p>

When asking a man who supports the Canadian Conservatives and Pierre Poilievre, if he supports women having body autonomy…

He replied, “I'm saying that a free society often allows certain evils, but it needn't if agreed upon.”

When I asked, “Agreed upon by who?”

He said, “Us”.

My response, “Who is us? I know you would like to take the autonomy away from women. If that is so, then we are not free.”

No reply so far.
