Having some fun at Devoke, there is just something about casing cars.
Hope you are all having a wonderful week.

[I have yet to dig into this myself, but it looks very promising]

the point of this is that DEFRA have some 10cm aerial imagery available (see https://environment.data.gov.uk/survey), and I wanted to see if it is possible to identify large gulls from it. It is! Kind of.. this is Outer Trial Bank at 10cm resolution (ie each pixel = 10cm), compared with a drone image taken in a much drier summer that's about 1cm resolutions.
Flip Flying
Had good weather for once this weekend, so got out with the new DJI Flip to see how it handles and video/picture tests. Video and Images are all off the Flip.
Overall it's an excellent little machine, very quick to deploy, image quality is excellent and battery life is good.
It's trickier to fly in wind due to the large prop guards acting as a sail but this has not affected stability of footage.
(Video at https://www.instagram.com/reel/DF4YY9bPN-v/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== )
This is just raw unaltered footage from our flip. We filmed these the same time we took the photos that we posted.
Please bare in mind it was up in wind conditions well above its spec, it was being blown around quite badly, and this footage is rock solid! We were very impressed.
We are looking forward to better weather, so we can give this little drone a proper run and get a better idea of just what we can do with it.
Hope you are all staying well and safe!
DJI Flip
Due to portability and speed of deployment might be of interest to landscape shooters so posting here:
New drone time. This is DJI's new Flip, figured cost to usefulness balanced out so got one in.
Plus RC2 controller which we didn't have that will work with the Mini 4 Pro and the Neo.
These are out of the drone shots, very windy here today for a 249g so just grabbed a couple from behind house. Colours look good, no ND filters on it yet and using auto for test shots.
Does not like wind, was flouncing around with those big prop guards, but video taken was rock steady so can't fault that and it was just at 15m/s, well above it's spec tolerance.

Coming across little artifacts in imagery is fun.
Is it something shiny bouncing sunlight off the roof, or did we catch a laser attack in progress?
@Ruth_Mottram Here is the Glénan archipelago in August 2023, whose low relief seems to have a fairly marked effect on the dissolution of clouds coming for the southeast.
Following this morning's post by @Ruth_Mottram, I installed #SnapPlanet on my phone and started tinkering with it. I didn't delve any deeper than this yet but it's already been a really cool ride!
This is the Mediterranean in March 2024. The city of Marseille can be seen on the right of the photo, while the mouth of the Rhône carries all the sediment that causes this earthy flow in the water, and creates a clear E-W separation.
And finally (for the moment), an episode of 'Sky High' - a documentary where someone flies over a landscape in a helicopter getting lovely aerial views and talking about the history of the cities/towns/landscapes/historic houses. This covers the area where I grew up, so is particularly interesting to me.
Country House
Sometimes you get to survey a wonderful property
I keep underrating window functions, but friends keep reminding me.
