Protect yourself, new Covid & flu vaccines are available now.

"During this "lull" b/w the 9th & 10th waves of Covid in the US, ~1 in 111 people are est. to be actively infectious with Covid.

Many people are on their 3rd or 4th infection. Repeat infections increase the cumulative risk of chronic & serious health conds."😷#MaskUp #VaxUp

New studies show more risks associated with #COVID, esp. with the heart:

This is all on top of the 13 people I know personally who have had #COVID during the past 2 months, myself included.

I wonder what it's going to take for our government and our society to do something.

(This is a rhetorical wondering.)

Spouse got boosted yesterday. Doc says I can get it as soon as I feel better. So I'm hoping for Friday, for me and 11yo both. 🤞

It's bad out there, y'all. #MaskUp, #VaxUp, #GetBoosted, and stay as safe as you're able. 🖖

Full disclosure, I did'nt read the entire report, bc it's a LOT.
BUT this is very hopeful!!!

"Based on our studies here and previous reports by others, antihistamine drugs could be utilized both as early prophylactic interventions to prevent SARS-CoV-2 infection and as late therapeutic countermeasures to mitigate long-term COVID-19 symptoms."

Greatest frustration today has been that a transformer in the neighborhood blew, and we have been without power for nearly 3 hours.

It's 106°F outside.

Spouse has gotten the generator going so we can have fans. #OGandE says it'll be at least 2 more hours before power comes back on.

I'm just glad this didn't happen when I was at my #COVID worst. 😳

...so that's a relief.

But yesterday, Day 9, I took a rapid test and got about the strongest positive line I've ever seen on a #covid test ever.

And Day 10 has been unrelenting misery. So, to quote Darwin, "I am very poorly today and very stupid and hate everybody and everything."

Tomorrow, I will miss my daughter's first day of 6th grade. I'll probably miss her whole first week.

This is some bullshit.

I think the bitter taste is actually good news: if nothing else, it's proof I haven't lost my sense of taste. Beyond having a slightly stuffy nose, I haven't lost my sense of smell. That tells me I'm avoiding brain damage. Yet another good reason to keep taking the Pax.

So #MaskUp, y'all--especially in crowded public spaces.
#VaxUp & get your boosters.
If you feel the slightest bit sick--stuffy nose, scratchy or sore throat, pounding headache, diarrhea--STAY THE HELL AWAY FROM PEOPLE.

#VAXUP, #OKLAHOMA.

"'Patients who are not vaccinated have a greater risk of getting Covid-19 long term symptoms,' Bratzler said.

"Bratzler says Oklahoma has one of the lowest vaccination rates in the country, which is a big reason why OKLAHOMA LEADS THE NATION IN LONG COVID. (emph added)

“'In Oklahoma, we had pretty low vaccination rates,' Bratzler said. 'So we had high rates of Covid. We had the second highest death rate in the nation from Covid-19.”

#CovidBooster update

I'm now 21 hours in. Woke up this morning feeling tired but otherwise not too bad. Body aches started shortly before noon. I checked my temp at 2pm and it was 99.1 -- my normal temp is 97.7. Yeah, I'm one of those. Took some Tylenol (acetaminophen/paracetamol), which is finally helping a little.

Currently advising 11yo on her ideas of how she'd survive without adults in the event of an #apocalypse.

From the BC CDC on BA.2.86 sub variant just detected.
"“It was not unexpected for BA.2.86 to show up in Canada and the province. The risk to people in B.C. has not changed. COVID-19 continues to spread globally, and the virus continues to adapt. Reducing transmission and having high levels of protection through vaccination continue to be our best defence against all variants of COVID-19. People who are vaccinated are less likely to get seriously ill from COVID-19 or require hospitalization.”

"“We urge all people in B.C. to continue to follow public-health advice and to stay home when sick, wear masks when appropriate, follow respiratory etiquette, wash hands frequently, and, most importantly, stay up to date on your vaccinations.”
