A KILLER grind (powerviolence?) band I discovered thanks to <a href="https://metalhead.club/@Easydor" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@Easydor</a> that I've had on all afternoon (seriously, EVERYTHING they've done is GREAT) that I won't even save for a GrindayFriday is the super weird ONA SNOP from Leeds. Wanted to support some small artists- purchases today go towards helping with the California wildfires, too. Here's what I grabbed. Next couple years gonna be INTENSE for art. Angry/hopeful stuff:First, I grabbed the WHOLE (small) discography of a killer band I just discovered-- Ohio antifascist punks NO HOLDS BARRED. ALL their stuff is great. This is the EP that hooked me. GRAVE GHOUL is from the UK and they just put out this 'The House of Dead Flesh' EP. It's badass. Gross and growly and gruesome. It starts out with a dude being interviewed about maniacs who see the Texas Chain Saw Massacre. Sets the tone. Great cover art, too. Jake in the desertYou need wake up music for a Monday. Today's wake up music is Gold Cup. Yet another band from Manchester, this is fuzzy garage psych punk something or other. Gold Cup put out 5 song EP 'Beyond a Joke' on October 8. It's catchy and punchy and weird. I kept looking up from my work because of how badass this is. It RIPS. The drums, the vocals, the guitar work, the songwriting, the dynamics, ALL of it. Jake in the desertHeard <a href="https://c.im/tags/MusicWomenWednesday" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#MusicWomenWednesday</a> is a thing now, and the first band that came to mind for me is Ladytron. I've loved them since I first heard their first album '604' when it came out in 2001. 'Playgirl' is so catchy and infectious, it INSTANTLY hooked me. And their cool voices! Ladytron has had so many amazing songs since, too, like 'Seventeen', and 'Deadzone' (a warning for this one, I didn't link the video here, it is VERY strange and dark, just search for it if you wanna see, kinda like how their video for another of their newer songs 'The Island' is also weird, they've gone a wild direction lately that I dig, but I'm sure it's not for everyone).
