Mika<p>On <a href="https://sakurajima.social/tags/Linux" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Linux</a>, to build/package container images for various platforms/architectures, you need to either install <a href="https://sakurajima.social/tags/QEMU" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#QEMU</a>'s <code>qemu-user-static</code> if it's available in your software repository, but if it's not (i.e. in the case of <a href="https://sakurajima.social/tags/RHEL" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#RHEL</a> distros), you could simply deploy the <code>docker.io/multiarch/qemu-user-static</code><span> container, once, and it'll sort everything out for you.<br><br>On </span><a href="https://sakurajima.social/tags/macOS" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#macOS</a> (<a href="https://sakurajima.social/tags/Apple" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Apple</a> Silicon), if you're building for <a href="https://sakurajima.social/tags/ARM" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#ARM</a> or <a href="https://sakurajima.social/tags/x86_64" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#x86_64</a>, you don't really need to do anything - presumably due to Apple's <a href="https://sakurajima.social/tags/Rosetta" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Rosetta</a> 2 (which I guess, you also do need to install, but is likely already installed <i>automatically</i> if you've used your Apple Silicon Mac for some time) - for various other platforms though, how do you even build for them? I couldn't seem to find a <code>qemu-user-static</code><span> for it or an equivalent solution.<br><br></span>🔗 <a href="https://github.com/multiarch/qemu-user-static" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">https://github.com/multiarch/qemu-user-static</a></p>
Mika<p>That's so freaking weird lol... on one of my <a href="https://sakurajima.social/tags/Proxmox" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Proxmox</a> nodes, I had started a test VM (<a href="https://sakurajima.social/tags/RockyLinux" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#RockyLinux</a>/<a href="https://sakurajima.social/tags/RHEL" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#RHEL</a><span>), and I was installing a single package on it, and for wtv reason that ended up powering off ALL other VMs on that Proxmox node other than that one test node.<br><br>I've never had this happen before in my </span><a href="https://sakurajima.social/tags/homelab" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#homelab</a>, on Proxmox or <a href="https://sakurajima.social/tags/ESXi" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#ESXi</a>, but it's incredibly concerning for sure lol. I have some critical stuffs on it too like my <a href="https://sakurajima.social/tags/TrueNAS" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#TrueNAS</a> server, some of <a href="https://sakurajima.social/tags/Kubernetes" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Kubernetes</a> nodes, etc. and to have them just... power off like that without any alerts or logs explaining it, not on the GUI anyway, is insane.</p>
