In the past three days, I've switched my #homelab to a new #ReverseProxy! After using #NginxProxyManager and #Zoraxy, I've now moved to #Pangolin.

Pangolin allows me to provide my #selfhosted services from my home lab without needing to open a port in my #firewall.

Essentially, it's a self-hosted alternative to #CloudflareTunnels, running on a #VPS. Due to the current political situation in the #USA, I preferred not to use Cloudflare.

Pangolin is based on #WireGuard and #Newt, enabling a #certificate-based direct connection after installing a client on the home server.

I'm extremely satisfied with it and now have no open ports in my private #network!

A beautiful newt (Taricha granulosa) that I encountered in the forest earlier this week. Newts and salamanders are among my favourite groups of small animals, and I'm always thrilled to come across one.

I was attempting to get a close-up of the underside of a mushroom and almost bumped smack dab into this poor fellow who was just trying to hide from the rain surprisingly he didn't mov too much (just tilted his head a bit) even as I was that close, I appreciate his patience with me as I briefly got up in his space.

We have an outside loo (ex-council house from the 1940s), although we don't use it much. Especially in the colder months! Today, though, we found this lovely visitor - a common newt who clearly thought they'd found a secluded little pond to spend some time in! #newt #amphibians #wildlife #toilet
