Books, movies & shows, old hardware & appliance manuals, anything. Any corporation that wants to remove streaming media for the tax write off should be forced to surrender it to the public domain. Trevor Burrows<p>This is an overview of an interesting project at the US <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/NationalArchives" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>NationalArchives</span></a> that uses "AI" to assist with large-scale transcription of historical documents, in this case pension records from the Revolutionary War.</p><p>They trained a model using crowdsourced transcriptions.</p><p>Now they'll use <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/Crowdsourcing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Crowdsourcing</span></a> to help verify and correct transcriptions.</p><p>This could be an interesting model for future transcription projects. </p><p>(Although, I struggle a bit with the use of the term "AI" here --- I think it's misleading, and will probably lead to a kneejerk dismissal of this sort of process.
