Weiß man schon lange.

"The Criminals' Go-To Cryptocurrency Has a New Friend in the White House"

Missed this great #FT reporting last month:

> "The eye-popping constellation of gangsters and sanctions evaders using #Tether includes cocaine cartels, North Korean hackers, Iranian and Russian spies, and #fentanyl smugglers."

Tether is the most profitable company in the history of the world on a per employee basis and it's not even close. Crime pays, obviously (or at least collecting interest from the US government while you look the other way about terrorists and rogue nuclear states commiting crimes pays).

Why Steve Rosenberg doesn’t run for politics in the UK I’ll never know. He’s smart, seems to be totally fearless, and certainly isn’t phased by anyone or anything. Clearly Putin and Lukashenko realise he’s no pushover and going to be very tough to deal with.
I hated the recent cutbacks at BBC News, but however much Steve’s paid he’s worth every penny.

BBC News'Don't overdo it, Steve': The BBC in testy exchange with Belarus presidentAfter an election win which has been widely criticised as illegitimate, Alexander Lukashenko faced questions from the BBC's Russia editor Steve Rosenberg.

#Belarus autocrat #Lukashenko "wins" 7th term in staged election

All 4 other candidates pledged loyalty to him

Response muted, compared to 2020 mass protests, because of threat of repression

"If you go out and start protesting, you’ll be thrown in jail. Maybe you'll come out. Maybe not"
