Lichen cup.

We stand in a misty soft-focus world of sun and cloudy shapes. Before us, clearer than its surroundings, stands a green coral chalice, its rough rim the only part of the scene that's sharply defined. It waits for us to sip from it.

I'm planning on making a series of this Amanita muscaria. It's going to be slightly different, with another glass dome. Can't find the same one currently. But I think it should be good, no matter what glass dome protects it.
This one became a night light for twins!

There was a giveaway in my archive on Instagram between this and the previous post - but I decided against posting that one here too. It doesn't do much for my archive and it would probably confuse the heck out of anyone here. So I skipped that post and went to the next one.

It does make me wonder though - are giveaways appreciated here too?

A tiny and complex bit of silver-grey lichen composed of many tiny birds-nest shapes and some longer flat pieces with tinier dots that will presumably grow into more of those tiny bowls. The surrounding twig, smaller than finger diameter, is dark and bumpy, mostly blurred- bark texture and maybe another dark lichen?

A T-shaped branch intersection (no more than finger diameter, probably less) with the arms of the T starting from lower left angling to upper right, the upright of the T angling to lower right. Just at the centre of the intersection, the twig is wrapped in a golden orange fine textured lichen.It is composed of flatter bits underneath and roundish tiny mounds on top-- kind of like little piles of red letils cooked till they are starting to fall apart. To each side on the bar of the T are equally tiny bits of silver foliose lichen. Backround is blurred warm grey woodland.

My not especially large, pinkish finger is held beside a dark twig, which is a little smaller in diameter, and with multiple spots of several kinds of very tiny lichens- the close-ups to come show patches no bigger than a (short) fingernail.

An ancient Celtic rainforest. Very few of these remain in the UK and are the last of what originally covered the land before humans settled and began agriculture.

Luckily, the parasites— I mean influencers, haven’t found this woodland yet.

Went and visited one of my favourite trees over the weekend. There's lots of lovely lichen on show at the moment...

Closeup photo of a small section of a tree trunk. The bark is silvered, but mostly covered with other organisms. There's a patch of dark green moss in the bottom left, an area of raised grey and bright red lichen to the right of it, and splats of orange-yellow rubbery-looking lichen dotted around. There's a grey lichen reaching out like lobster claws in front of everything else, while just above this is a bright yellow spikily branched patch of another species of lichen. Other patches of the abovementioned species appear in between all the others
