Gods, I forgot how great this album is. In an era when albums had a lot of filler in them, these songs are all really solid.
Originally, I had this on cassette. Such a different time.

INXS ‘Kick’ SACD. Playing on System 1:
PSAudio PerfectWave SACD transport, DSD stream I2S out into HoloAudio Cyan 2 DAC, into PSAudio BHK Signature preamp, into BHK Signature amp, into B&W 803Ds.
I’m not listening at ‘critical listening’ volumes, but it’s very clean, so this isn’t a ‘review’ just commentary…
All the instruments have a good separation to them. Need You Tonight is a standout here. Mediate blooms into this deep synth bass wash.

"Elegantly wasted" - INXS
A decade since their breakthrough, INXS found the future by looking back - this song, and much of the album, tries to recapture the magic of "Kick". Not sure they succeeded, the dance beats are a bit half-hearted; when they rock, they win.
I don't feel daft comparing Michael Hutchence's stage presence to Aerosmith in the same studio last week. The rock gods are here.

"Shining star" from INXS, in a video that may have inspired the subsequent dating series Man 'O' Man where women push rejected men into a swimming pool.
Promoted their live album, cunningly entitled "Live Baby Live". Backing vocals on the single are from Keith Urban, who's since become a massive country music star.
Presenters for this edition are Mark Franklin and Elayne Smith.
