wow fought hard to change an instance I manage from #hometown to #mastodon mainline.

The main task, rolling back hometown-specific database-migrations was sort of easy. What really killed me, was getting webpack to understand that I did not have the hometown-specific theme. I had to hand-edit the theme in the database from the command-line - and the theme name MUST END WITH A NEWLINE ... ha lol

In the screenshot you can see the newline being signified by a '+' sign in the psql table view.

Okay, the #Hometown release is done but isn't available just yet because while I've confirmed it works in a dev environment, I haven't been able to test on Friend Camp for silly reasons involving our old-ass Ubuntu version. I'll be deploying tonight after upgrading Ubuntu (in ~8 hours for me) but if a Hometown admin out there wants to test it out early, the branch is here:

It SHOULD work, as it's a pretty straightforward merge of the security patch.

Hi #Hometown admins - I'll be porting the mastodon security release tonight. It should not be a critical issue if you do not have SAML enabled (and it's likely you don't) but I still recommend pulling the update once I release it

When a band of fog rolled up through the Ruhr valley this evening, I immediately launched the drone.
Unfortunately, the pictures didn't turn out well due to the lack of light.
But hopefully they still capture the impressive atmosphere I felt.
