“When Trump mandated a return to work, it was thought that this was a pretext to demoralize workers by taking away benefits and flexibility, perhaps in the hope that it would lead to resignations. But the quality of the office experience itself may be adding to that.” 🤬

Now, this might be nothing - maybe this (minor) redesign had been planned for some time. But at a time when other corporations are (needlessly) responding to Trump's anti- #DEI #ExecutiveOrders by removing or downplaying such content, it is troubling. I can't speak for all other marginalized populations, but I've felt that #NBCNews had been pretty good at #trans coverage.

Sigh...

The terms appeared in govt memos, in ofcl & unofficial agency guidance & in other docs. Some ordered the removal of these #words from public-facing websites, or the elimination of other materials (including #school curricula) in which they might be included.

Some agency managers advised caution in the terms’ usage w/o instituting a ban. Additionally, the presence of some terms was used to automatically flag for review some #grant proposals & contracts in conflict w/ #Trump’s #ExecutiveOrders.

Last night I went to a candlelight #vigil for blah blah #Trump shit in a gazebo in a small town park. I live in a #smallTown (~20K people). There were 30-50 in attendance. I'm 55 and was one of the younger people. There were songs and brief speeches. Talk of how we will vote like crazy next time, etc. It was over in 40 minutes (remember: old people).

I couldn't stop thinking that the League of Women Voters (the organizing body) was hopelessly on the back foot. These people, many of whom I know and protested with during Trump 1, seem to be under the impression we merely have an awful president.

I was crying as I left. I hope I'm wrong, but I couldn't stop thinking

  1. Trump keeps making batshit/hateful "pronouncements" via #ExecutiveOrders, #twitter, and #TruthSocial.

  2. Many/most of those represent violations of law/ #constitution and always arrogation of powers that are legally held by #Congress or #SCOTUS.

  3. Nobody is stopping him.

  4. What do you call a system of government where one asshole says whatever shit comes to his mind or makes him wealthier or makes him more powerful, and he always gets what he wants?

I was crying as I left. I hope I'm wrong, but I think we're in a #dictatorship, now. I think we have a chance to save ourselves from this as a long-term situation, but who is going to do that? Not the #Republicans, who are desperate to kiss Trump's ass harder than each other. And not the #Democrats, if all we do is have 40-minute candlelight vigils in out-of-the-way parks where nobody will be inconvenienced or even have to be aware of what we're doing.

In this new #Trumpian era, a Republican-led #Congress is no longer a coequal branch of government. Instead, it has been refashioned as an enabler of Trump’s whims, resentments and obsessions. Trump’s objective is less to pass legislation — he seems to be relying primarily on #executiveorders, so far — and more to troll #Democrats and assert his dominance over a feeble opposition party that doesn’t quite know how to play its role. This is what an “elected #monarchy” looks like. wapo.st/3QJqjKu

#TrumpLies are too many for me to live #FactCheck. I’ll try to deal w/that shitshow later, tho I’ll highlight a few.

E.G.
Trump just claimed he’s stopped “government censorship” & “brought back free speech in America.” In reality, Trump has signed #ExecutiveOrders that’s required the govt to scrub certain words & phrases from the public domain, dictating “patriotic education,” & just today announced that #schools would lose federal funding if they allowed students to engage in certain protests.

Mr. Musk now finds himself spearheading a radical takeover of the federal bureaucracy, empowered by President Trump in ways that have no historical parallel for an unelected adviser.

“An overriding question of the #Trump admin, already facing a raft of litigation against the president’s #ExecutiveOrders, is whether it would abide by court decisions. Trump & some of his top advisers have suggested they might not….

“‘There is no hard & fast rule about whether in every instance a public ofcl is bound by a court decision,’ Aaron Reitz, who has been tapped to serve as head of #DOJ’s Office of #Legal Policy,…[responded] to repeated questioning from the #Senate #Judiciary Cmte.”

Why the fuck are private corporations like #Paramount complying with #Trump 's #transphobic and anti- #DEI #ExecutiveOrders?

The only reason I'm subscribed to Paramount+ is to watch Star Trek. I already canceled Disney+ (last year, for unrelated reasons) and, as much as it pains me as a Trekkie completist, this subscription might have to go next.
