Advocates are sounding the alarm: Without urgent funding for affordable #housing, essential workers—like nurses and teachers—are being pushed out of the communities they serve. #Homelessness organisations report a rising number of these vital workers seeking help.

@fmacskasy A nurse with six years work experience also spent years training to get there. Police are on the job after 20 weeks training. Cahill is using false equivalents. Also compare the numbers of lives that nurses save versus those saved by police.

Edited - Both are valued by society. Debate shouldn't put one against another. Govt should support all #EssentialWorkers

@wdlindsy Americans feel like the #economy is failing them, because it is.

GDP going up, stonks go up, etc... All great. For people with money.

More and more people in the US are at the point where they have very little money. They can barely keep up with rent, groceries, and energy costs.

But, stonk lines go up, so everything is good, right?

#Inflation is "better now", but reducing how fast your money loses value doesn't change that it's losing value faster than your pay raises.

And yes, "median pay is increasing"... For the higher end of the wage spectrum. Front line, #EssentialWorkers are not seeing the same gains. People playing the stonk market, or management are getting more money, though.

So, yes, there are very real economic policies decisions to make, to get people feeling better about the economy. And #TrickleDownEconomics aka #Bidenomics isn't the answer.

Everyone, and I mean *everyone*, who is not getting a paycheck should not go to work.

#EssentialWorkers died for us during #COVID19. The #WorkingClass is essential. Air traffic controllers are NOT slaves. Neither are SSA workers, park rangers, FDA inspectors, ...

If you're not getting paid what are you working for? Let the billionaires take responsibility for a change.

New study links Canadian farms to 64 COVID-19 outbreaks in 2020, most tied to greenhouses due to high humidity and indoor crowding at a time when masks were not routinely being used.

Canadian farm workers were classified as Essential Workers. 32% of Ontario farm workers worked in greenhouses.
