Back in the courtroom At attorney Prada’s request the judge froze Reyes Mota’s #asylum case for the time being. That way, he could eventually take it up again. That is, if he is ever able to return to the #UnitedStates.

“We can agree that there was no removal order from this court or another court,” the judge said, noting that there was very little he could do.

He has no tattoos & his family members deny he has any gang ties. Had Reyes Mota still been in the #US, his #asylum hearing would have been a commonplace matter. But his absence showcases the remarkable nature of the #Venezuelans’ #deportation to #ElSalvador. As attys argue the flights were unlawful & violated a federal judge’s order, the #immigration court is navigating the case of an asylum seeker w/pending immigration proceedings whom #Trump flew to another country w/o #DueProcess.

For this #monochromemonday post: Building 93 at the former Kings Park Psychiatric Center, a defunct New York State-run psychiatric hospital on the North Shore of Long Island that was open from 1885-1996. This particular building was a patient ward building, 13 stories tall, and built from 1939-1940, and opened to patients in 1941. It was vacated for good in 1992, a few years ahead of the complete closure of the hospital campus but by then, only the first four floors were actually being used. #RachelMaddow just interviewed Lindsay Toczylowski, #immigration atty for one of the *deported* individuals being held at #CECOT in #ElSalvador.
He was deemed a member of the gang #TdA because he has tattoos & is Venezuelan.
Her client is a #gay make-up artist who was seeking #asylum in the #US. Toczylowski shared some personal photos of her client.
