Also, this is not a joke, I would seriously like my town to have it's own town-based mastodon server (or at least some kind of activitypub-based server).

My thinking is, the issues of municipalities are niche enough that there would be a compelling reason for small individual of folks to want one. And other municipalities could have their own. And there could be cross-pollination between neighboring municipalities. And it could be the basis for a robust network that's not facebook.

Life's too short. Don't use a screen protector on your cellular device. Enjoy that AMOLED in all of its naked glory.

Devs, listen to what people are telling you. They are telling you what you need.

Yes, some of them are annoying, complainy and aggravating, but your brilliant idea is useless if people don't use it.

There are so many conversations about social media alternatives at the moment and there is a real opportunity to gain a completely new audience.

But you gotta listen. You gotta engage with folks. Coding is the easy part.
