Hello! I'm an account created to get followed by followbots!
Please boost this post!
Boosting will cause this to appear in the timelines of instances with followbots, who will then follow me!
I shall post a list of all followbots who follow me, afterwards.
Thank you for participating! :heart::robot:
Is there any option to post only to the local TL?
How much time are the toots kept on the server? With the growth of the community people will have to keep adding more and more memory to their servers, right?
The xyz’s francophonic timeline makes me feel like I live in a hip French neighborhood. #ouioui
How cool would it be to have some kind of markup lang for our toots?
How can I follow people who are not in my federated TL?
How can we follow new people and contribute to our instance's federated TL?
London Mastodon meetup? Here obvs
It costs more per-person to go to one IMAX movie a month than it would to fully fund #Mastodon development, instances, and applications in perpetuity.
I do appreciate when people translate their toots into English. That way I get to see what they said with a quality non-automated translation, and I get some exposure to another language.

Maybe someone can make an easy use/setup aMastodon Raspberry Pi Zero W distribution
So this is great and everything, but I've got to think that instances with thousands of users isn't really the way forward, rather, <1000 but many more instances. Remove points of failure, remove censorship, remove the need for one individual to bare massive hosting costs...
If someone comes up with an almost hands-off, one-click service for setting up instances of a limited size for a fixed cost per month, it would absolutely make a killing...
Further to my previous post:
Admin duty should be like jury duty and the tools should be extra easy to use, so that anyone in an instance could do it.
Then you'd set up a desired "council" size, say soemthing like 30 people, and have pool change by one person every day, so that no one ever has to lose their free time to doing admin work...
(plus then, it would be self-balancing...content moderation would actually be the product of the entire instance, so more homogenous in the end...)
I think that the existence of instances that emphasise beliefs, political opinions and such can lead people to fall in those social bubbles that we all were afraid on twitter, where the suggestions are based on "your interests". Even with the federations feed.
For those who dont know, the federated timeline displays all the activity from all the people on other instances who are followed by people on your instance.

It is therefore very good practice to follow as many interesting people from other instances as possible. We are the ropes binding this distributed system together.

"what if some mastodon instances choose not to federate with each other ???" worries a twitterer who cut off communications with half the people in their life because they only use facebook
