Reading though the descriptions of local plants on wikipedia, it's really unfortunate how pervasive colonial language is. E.g., pick though a few pages of this search:
That's just a simple example, with over a thousand results, a non-trivial portion of which are "oof"-worthy.
I'd like to do something about this, but at the same time, I don't have any claims to indigeneity, and don't want to presume what the correct thing to do is...
Like, I could just add "to Europeans", but then I wonder, why does that warrant special mention vs. any other group of people? But if I just delete any reference to it at all, that could be erasing the colonial history of that plant. Obviously just leaving it as-is is wrong, so... any opinions are welcome.
