Sick pet

@map My wife's childhood cat also had a heart problem that had us racing to a far away clinic in the middle of the night when he suddenly had trouble breathing. It's a horrible feeling I will never forget. Best of luck to Neko! I hope the treatment works for him!

@jeffgerstmann Hope things get better and/or resolved. Stuff like that is harsh, I know the feeling of having to leave in such situations, it's not good.

@jeffgerstmann I bet with the kind of collection you have been dealing with, you could use a part-time archivist for that stuff... I thought it was really cool that you shared your CLZ data, love hearing about that stuff!

Here on Mastodon, I feel save to admit that I think Ian Bogost had a pretty interesting thing to say and that it's actually a pretty good essay about Edith Finch.

I never liked The Circle, but this interview makes me reconsider things (at least a bit). Still, they should have talked about Mastodon, so many of Eggers concerns solved! motherjones.com/media/2017/04/

@jeffgerstmann I use their Comics Collector software and it is really good for my needs (granted my collection is not yet several thousands of items). Their pricing structure is really weird, but right now I don't want the updates, so I don't pay anything (iOS updates are included).

Welp, I signed up for another "track your game collection" sort of service. This one seems to have improved a lot since I last looked at it, but my data import went a little sideways and it looks like I'll have to manually match a lot of games to their data. Also they seem to be missing some stuff.

Anyway, here's this mess of a list, if you care. It'll look better if/when I clean it up!

Oh GOD! The localization of Mastodon (at least on xyz) now says "TRÖT!" THIS IS GLORIOUS! :elephant: It should alternate with "TÖRÖÖÖ!" mastodon.xyz/media/1Jl0me3Jbcl

@jeffgerstmann Dinner is served! Also: string cheese is weird and no. Cheese comes in block form and nothing else.

I just went around and did some basic nmap-ing on the most popular Mastodon instances, and there's some seriously sketchy stuff in there. Publicly reachable Postgres servers, tons of open internal HTTP ports, SSH with password login, multiple Mastodon instances that seem to be running on mail server VMs, …

I guess if you're just running a single-user instance for yourself, sure, but those are all 2000+ user instances.
