When/if I set up my own instance, what would be the process to migrate? Or is it better if I set up now?
Alright, so defederation is (or should be) only a temporary measure until black/whitelisting instances becomes a per-user thing. When that's a thing, instances can have opt-out blacklists for the same reasons they might defederate currently. Very happy if this gets implemented.

How does a mass user exodus from a social media website even happen? Obviously we have seen it before with MySpace, Livejournal, etc. I don't see a practical way to recreate my Twitter social graph here yet.
Using a non commercial social website feels very rebellious. Just another way that we've stumbled forward into a corporate dystopia of our own making.
