Ah, finally taking a break from panic to try to settle back into Mastodon. I guess I'll start with a plus and a minus.
Minus: I have some schoolwork, research and studying to do this weekend. Also, my pens broke.
Plus: I feel weirdly relaxed this afternoon and I'm going to relax with people that I like being around tonight so there's that.
You've got to admit, he has a point.
As I've grown older I've learned that pleasing everyone is impossible, but pissing everyone off is a piece of cake.๐
I'm glad I'm not a meteorologist because the weather this week has been going up and down.
On the plus side, it'll be warm today. So finally spring weather, maybe.
If weโre ever going to actually effect social change, weโre going to need to provide home grown, community alternatives to the media produced by the entrenched power structures represented by these mega-corporations. We need to hit them at their bottom line, which means creating (and consuming) compelling community TV, Film, Games, Prose, Music, and other art.

I'm starting a new music playlist. Does anyone have any songs that they can recommend to me? I'm inclined towards rock and hip hop but I'm open to other genres.
Hello everyone who is new to Mastodon! Make sure you try and find some folks to follow who have been here for a long time. Don't make the mistake of just following folks joining right now or those you know from other places. Because many of these will leave soon, making you think this place is dead when in reality it's buzzing with activity. I've seen it happen too often with new social services and sites.
It's days like these where I miss reading the Village Voice. Maybe it's the red newstand boxes or the "nostalgia" of the front page art or actually reading the articles but I just feel sad about that.
