Tonight was the worst presentation I have given in years. My equipment didn’t work. We started twenty minutes late on loner equipment. I couldn’t do any of my examples. Embarrassing showing tonight. I hope to do way better next time. Can’t emphasize how nice it was to still hear positive comments from folks in the audience though even as I felt awful about it.
Explaining P99 to people is hard. Yes, I play on a red server. Yes, that means PVP. Yes. You can loose levels, platinum, and potentially even your equipment if you really screw up. Yes, it is dangerous. But why wouldn’t you play on a PVP server? Go hard or don’t go. #just30yearoldboomerthings
When designing a user interface, imagine some old woman using it, say Margaret Hamilton, and she's clicking your app's buttons and saying to you, as old people do,
"Young whippersnapper, when I was your age, I sent 24 people to the ACTUAL MOON with my software in 4K of RAM and here I am clicking your button and it takes ten seconds to load a 50 megabyte video ad and then it crashes
I'm not even ANGRY with you, I'm just disappointed."
Surprise, surprise. Big Ad Tech is lobbying *against* strong privacy laws, arguing they hurt the ad market, create high costs for businesses & curb innovation.
In his @nytimes op-ed, our CEO & Founder @yegg explains why "these are all weak arguments." https://www.nytimes.com/2019/06/19/opinion/facebook-google-privacy.html
@retro64XYZ Trust me, I understand all about lack of customer service as a former Apple fanboy since the Apple IIc until I got burned with my iMac G5. Still, I've learned that it's best to do your research when buying a PC for a FOSS OS. Even with the great support Lenovo has for Linux and the BSDs, something like the ThinkPad A485 that I'd like as an OpenBSD laptop comes with a Broadcom WiFi which is a showstopper.
I do talks on security and have a horrible track record with social media because I don’t like social media but I guess I need to use it so people know I exist.
