I finally found the article by Gary Bernhardt, where he takes one of Linus rants and turns it into an email full of useful feedback and no insults.
Now I'm going to leave this story at that.

Bohemian Rhapsody for 28 trombones.
An outstanding project by @classicalbone and there would really be only one way to improve it: more trombones.
I'm glad Barack Obama was President.
(I'm also glad Charlie Pierce writes.)
Since some people are talking about the “death of the URL” … again … it felt like the right time to re-post something I wrote 2 years ag on the topic https://medium.com/@torgo/in-defense-of-the-url-adbec59c7cf4 including a link to research that seems to indicate people DO know what URLs are.
android mastodon clients
I've tried a number of android mastodon clients and Tusky is by far the best, looks and UX-wise -- it's so much nicer than others, that I keep using it despite the following issue:
Loading any kind of pictures, GIFs, etc just takes ages. I slowly count to 10 each time I click on an image. Often it doesn't load in that time and I scroll on.
I doubt this is a problem with my instance because the web client doesn't behave like this.
Does anyone else experience this?
- write some code
- notice a question that will probably come up in code review (eg "is doing this based on request header secure enough for our needs?")
- write a wall of text in PR description that tries to answer that question with evidence, proposes alternatives, and has a call to action for the reviewer to weigh in
- first code review comment: "is doing this based on request header secure enough for our needs?"
Thinking about Star Trek this morning (you know, no real reason). I wanted to share an article on one of my favorite topics: economics in the fictional world of Star Trek.
Why #activitypub could be much bigger than you might realize. Really great points. It's the uniting social protocol not everyone realized we needed.
