I'm happy to announce that my barebones ActivityPub server, implemented in Node.js/Express, is now open source! I intend for it to be a reference implementation for developers who are adding ActivityPub to their own services, but also it is an application server that you can build on if you want.

In other words, t's a few hundred lines of code that lets you create Mastodon-compatible accounts that can accept follow requests and post stuff to their followers.

So Alpine Linux has a pretty serious set of vulnerabilities because

- It doesn’t download packages over TLS, making them prone to MitM. Which on its own isn’t terrible but it also...

- Doesn’t check hashes before extracting to root (!)

- And uses custom gzip code which is vulnerable to arbitrary code execution (!!)

If your website or app displays relative timestamps ("2 min ago", "1 year ago") but doesn't show the precise timestamp on hover you have a problem

My heaviest most-exasperated sighs are reserved for the multiple times per week when my wife, holding and wearing $5000 worth of Apple gear, asks me to remind her of an upcoming appointment.

This JavaScript code powers a 1,500 user intranet application.

The longer you look at it the more insane it gets.

@firescotch in general my experience of unlimited PTO is that it's great for sick days and everyone respects that if you're ill, you should take a day off to recover, but actually using it as vacation time comes with a lot of social pressure to not do that.

Hey every business, if your website has a "Request an appointment" form that includes "Phone number" and "Best Time to Call", you really don't understand how the internet works

I guess the difference is that I have to trade in the upgraded phone, rather than keeping it for development testing.

Still, seems pretty attractive.

So Apple's yearly upgrade program is like eight dollars a month more than what AT&T charges me for an installment plan, and it includes AppleCare+ too?

Maybe it's time to stop keeping my phones for 3-4 years between upgrades.

Unfollowing everyone who whines about Apple selling things.
