, it was their dumb attempt to cover their asses, not realizing or simply didn't care how much they were going to be ridiculed by anyone who has a basic surface level understanding how e2e works. 
They absolutely deserved to be mucked for this, since they are the biggest security vulnerability themselves.

Don't tell Barthelemy! ( sorry, this is a french comics joke, about a character in the comics "Philemon" that is very niche even among french speaking people. Basically, Barthelemy is an old hermit trying to return to the letter A of Atlantique were he lived for a time with a centaure. It's a weird comics. )
